Sloppy Joes!

Hello all!

I felt like sharing my Sloppy Joe recipe. Im finding it a bit dull that on my baking blog, the first recipe to appear will be sloppy joe. Not even something gourmet or fancy, regular old ground beef on a bun. BUT it is my favorite recipe and it is how I like it, a bit sweet and not too
“cumin-ny”. This recipe makes between 10 and 12 joes.

2 tbl oil
2 onion (minced)
2 garlic cloves (also minced)
1 tsp chili powder
1.5 pound ground beef
2 tbl brown sugar
1 small can tomato paste
1 can tomato soup
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup water
10 hamburger buns

heat the oil in a deep skillet. add onion and cook 5 minutes on medium heat. Add garlic and chili powder, cook for a minute. Add the brown beef, the sugar, some salt and pepper. Brown the meat (about 5 minutes) and undo all cumps that could form with your wooden spoon.

add the soup, the paste, water and the ketchup. let it cook for 5 minutes. season to taste and add some tobasco if you like it hot.

spoon 1/3 cup of the mixture on each bun

I like to make mine in advance when the meat is on sale. I freeze it in small glass jars and count one jar for about 4 buns, or 3 very full ones.
